Tropical Bank Limited, a leading financial institution in Uganda, is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Trade Finance Relationship Manager to join our team in Kampala. This senior role is central to driving the growth of our Trade Finance portfolio and building lasting relationships with our corporate clients.

Job Purpose

To drive the growth of Trade Finance income (both funded and non-funded) across the bank's network by cultivating new business, managing key relationships, and overseeing trade finance operations to maximise revenue and market share.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies to grow the Trade Finance business in line with the bank's annual and long-term strategic plans.
• Cultivate new business opportunities and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective corporate clients in trade, both locally and cross-border.
• Monitor and manage the designated accounts portfolio to control overall credit risk and ensure compliance with the Bank's Credit Policy and Bank of Uganda guidelines.
• Lead and coach a team of subordinates, identifying training needs and providing on-the-job coaching to ensure maximum potential is achieved.
• Drive customer experience initiatives to build a base of promoters and enhance the bank's competitive advantage in the trade finance sector.
• Oversee trade finance operations, ensuring efficient service delivery and adherence to agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
• Prepare and submit periodic performance reports on loans, disbursements, and portfolio status to Executive Committee (ExCom).
• Maintain a comprehensive database of Corporate and Trade Clients for the bank.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field from a recognised university.
• Professional banking qualifications (e.g., ACIB) are a strong advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a similar role within trade finance, corporate banking, or relationship management in Uganda's banking sector.
• In-depth knowledge of Trade & Working Capital Solutions Products, UCP 600, and international trade practices.
• Strong understanding of credit risk management, Bank of Uganda regulations, and the Ugandan business environment.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Proven track record in business development and meeting financial targets.
