Join a Leading Global Health Organisation: Technical Advisor - HIV Care and Treatment

FHI 360, a premier international non-profit organisation dedicated to improving health and well-being, is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Technical Advisor for HIV Care and Treatment to join our team in Kampala, Uganda. This is a senior-level opportunity to provide technical leadership and directly impact the quality of HIV/AIDS service delivery across Uganda.

Job Summary

As the Technical Advisor, you will provide strategic technical leadership and support for the implementation of high-quality HIV care and treatment programmes in Uganda. You will play a critical role in strengthening health systems, building the capacity of local health workers, and ensuring programme performance aligns with national and international standards. This position requires frequent travel to health facilities within Uganda.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical guidance on the latest HIV care and treatment protocols, clinical guidelines, and best practices.
  • Lead and support the development, implementation, and monitoring of detailed programme work plans and budgets.
  • Conduct regular supportive supervision, mentoring, and capacity-building sessions for health facility staff to improve service quality.
  • Analyse programme performance data, identify trends, and prepare comprehensive reports for stakeholders and donors.
  • Foster strong collaboration and partnerships with the Uganda Ministry of Health (MOH), district health teams, and other key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of technical materials, training curricula, and job aids for health workers.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • A Master's degree in Public Health, Medicine, or a closely related field is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive, hands-on experience in HIV/AIDS programme implementation, with a strong focus on care and treatment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Uganda's public health system, HIV policies (e.g., Uganda National HIV/AIDS Policy), and PEPFAR/USAID reporting requirements.
  • Proven experience in health worker training, mentorship, and conducting supportive supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis for decision-making.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively to various regions within Uganda.
