Staff Nurse Job at NHS Scotland - Health Centre, Eastern Region Uganda

NHS Scotland is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our team at the Health Centre in Eastern Region, Uganda. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified nurse to contribute to quality healthcare delivery in Uganda while working with an internationally recognised health organisation.

About the Role:
As a Staff Nurse with NHS Scotland in Uganda, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care, supporting clinical operations, and promoting health education within the community. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving health outcomes in the Eastern Region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients following established protocols and standards.
• Conduct patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
• Assist doctors and other healthcare professionals during examinations and procedures.
• Educate patients and their families on health management, disease prevention, and treatment plans.
• Ensure infection prevention and control measures are strictly adhered to within the health centre.
• Participate in community health outreach programmes and immunisation drives.
• Maintain medical equipment and ensure the nursing station is well-stocked and organised.

Requirements:

• Must possess a Diploma in Nursing or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a recognised institution.
• Valid practising licence from the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC).
• Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification clinical nursing experience in Uganda.
• Strong clinical skills and knowledge of current nursing best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English and relevant local languages.
• Compassionate, patient-centred approach and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
• Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning.
