Senior Manager, Global Health Security Job at PATH Uganda
PATH Uganda is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Manager for Global Health Security (GHS) to lead our critical initiatives in Kampala. This is a senior-level opportunity to shape Uganda's capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to infectious disease threats, contributing directly to national and regional health security.
PATH is a global nonprofit organisation dedicated to achieving health equity. With over 40 years of experience, we forge multisector partnerships and leverage expertise in science, technology, and advocacy to develop innovative solutions to the world's most pressing health challenges. Our GHS programme works collaboratively with countries to strengthen their public health systems.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide strategic technical leadership and oversight for all Global Health Security activities in Uganda.
- Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with government partners (including the Ministry of Health), donors, and key stakeholders.
- Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of project work plans, budgets, and M&E frameworks.
- Ensure timely and high-quality programme reporting to donors and PATH headquarters.
- Mentor, supervise, and build the capacity of project staff within the Uganda team.
- Represent PATH with authority at national and regional forums, workshops, and technical working groups.
- Focus on strengthening Uganda's infectious disease surveillance systems, laboratory networks, and emergency response preparedness.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- Masterβs degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in global health security, infectious disease surveillance, or outbreak response programmes.
- Proven track record of managing large, complex health programmes within Uganda or similar contexts.
- Strong understanding of Uganda's health system structure, policies, and key stakeholders.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of local Ugandan languages (e.g., Luganda) is a strong asset.
