Job Description

Join World Vision Uganda as a Program Officer - Health and Nutrition

World Vision International is seeking a dedicated and experienced Program Officer for Health and Nutrition to join our team in Kampala, Uganda. This is a vital role focused on improving maternal and child health outcomes and strengthening community health systems across the country. Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Support the implementation and management of integrated health and nutrition programmes, with a focus on maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH).
  • Conduct programme planning, monitoring, evaluation, and timely reporting to ensure project objectives are met.
  • Build the capacity of local partners and community health workers through training and supportive supervision.
  • Ensure all programme activities align with Uganda's Ministry of Health policies, guidelines, and the National Development Plan.
  • Facilitate community engagement and sensitisation on key health and nutrition practices.
  • Collaborate with district health teams and other stakeholders to strengthen the community health system.
  • Manage programme resources effectively and contribute to proposal development for new projects.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Human Nutrition, Nursing, or a closely related field from a recognised institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in health and/or nutrition programming, preferably within the Ugandan context or with an INGO.
  • Strong project management, reporting, and data analysis skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Ugandan public health system and key national health policies.
  • Excellent proficiency in English (written and spoken). Fluency in one or more local Ugandan languages is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and community mobilisation skills.
  • Ability to travel frequently to field locations within Uganda.
