BRAC Uganda Bank Limited, a leading financial institution, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax and Payments Manager to join our dynamic team in Kampala. This is a senior-level role reporting directly to the Head of Finance, offering a challenging opportunity to oversee all tax compliance, planning, and reporting functions in accordance with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) regulations.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Ensure timely and accurate computation, filing, and payment of all statutory taxes (PAYE, Corporation Tax, WHT, VAT, Stamp Duty, Excise Duty) via the URA eTax/eFiling portal.
• Maintain full compliance with URA, Bank of Uganda (BoU), and Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA) regulatory standards and keep up-to-date tax records.
• Prepare and submit detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reports to management and regulators.
• Provide strategic tax planning and advisory services to optimise the bank's tax efficiency and ensure compliance.
• Review new financial products, contracts, and transactions to assess tax implications and mitigate risks.
• Advise management on changes in Ugandan tax laws and URA rulings and their business impact.
• Liaise with URA during tax audits and investigations; prepare responses and documentation for assessments.
• Review tax computations, provisions, and deferred tax calculations in line with IFRS and IAS 12.
• Manage the supplier payment processes for efficiency and tax compliance.
• Supervise, mentor, and conduct tax training for finance officers and other staff.
• Streamline and automate tax processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics, or Business Administration.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA or CPA) is mandatory.
• Postgraduate certification in Tax is a strong added advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in taxation within a financial institution, audit firm, or tax advisory firm at a supervisory level.
• Proven track record in managing URA tax compliance and handling tax audits.
• Strong understanding of Uganda's tax laws, IFRS, and financial sector regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Orbit, Microsoft applications).
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for liaising with senior stakeholders.
• High integrity, strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage tight deadlines.
