Senior Accountant - Verification Job at Civil Aviation Authority Uganda (UCAA) in Entebbe

The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Accountant – Verification to join their dynamic finance team in Entebbe. This is a senior-level opportunity for a Ugandan professional with impeccable integrity to contribute to the regulation and management of Uganda's aviation sector.

About UCAA:
The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority is a key corporate body responsible for the regulation of civil aviation across Uganda. We manage Entebbe International Airport and thirteen (13) other upcountry aerodromes, ensuring all operations meet international ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs). Working with UCAA means contributing to national infrastructure and safety.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Perform detailed verification and reconciliation of financial transactions, records, and statements.
• Ensure compliance with UCAA financial policies, Ugandan regulations, and international accounting standards.
• Oversee and review accounting processes related to aviation revenue, expenditures, and audits.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for management and regulatory bodies.
• Lead and mentor junior accounting staff within the verification unit.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure financial integrity across all Authority operations.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field from a recognised institution. A professional qualification like ACCA or CPA is a strong advantage.
• Proven work experience as a Senior Accountant, Audit Senior, or in a similar verification-focused role.
• In-depth knowledge of Ugandan accounting standards and practices.
• High level of integrity, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
