Systems and Research Associate Job in Gulu, Uganda - Kijani Forestry

Kijani Forestry, a leading sustainable forestry company in Uganda, is seeking a dedicated Systems and Research Associate to join our team in Gulu. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful environmental work while developing your technical and analytical skills in Northern Uganda.

About the Role:
As a Systems and Research Associate, you will play a crucial role in supporting our data management, research initiatives, and operational systems. You will work closely with our forestry and operations teams to ensure efficient information flow and data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and maintain the company's data collection and management systems.
• Conduct field and desk research to support forestry projects and sustainability reporting.
• Analyse operational data to identify trends, efficiencies, and areas for improvement.
• Prepare clear reports and visualisations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Provide technical support and training to staff on system use and data entry protocols.
• Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of forestry and community projects.
• Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organisational standards.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, IT, Environmental Science, Forestry, Agriculture, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of proven experience in data management, research, or systems support.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools. Knowledge of database software (e.g., SQL, Access) is a strong advantage.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and collaborate effectively with a team.
• A passion for environmental conservation and sustainable development in Uganda.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages in the Gulu region (Acholi/Luo) is beneficial.
