Shift Engineer Job at Roofings Limited in Uganda - Manufacturing

Roofings Limited, Uganda's leading manufacturer of steel and plastic building products, is seeking a skilled and dedicated Shift Engineer to join our dynamic operations team. This is a permanent, full-time position offering an excellent opportunity to work with state-of-the-art industrial machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

As a Shift Engineer at Roofings Limited, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth, efficient, and safe operation of our production lines. You will be responsible for overseeing all engineering activities during your shift, maintaining our reputation for quality and reliability in Uganda's construction sector.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
• Oversee and manage all engineering operations and maintenance activities during the assigned shift.
• Ensure all production machinery and equipment are operating at optimal efficiency with minimal downtime.
• Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and timely repairs on industrial equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults promptly.
• Lead and supervise a team of technicians and operators on the shift, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Maintain accurate logs of equipment performance, maintenance activities, and shift reports.
• Implement and enforce strict health, safety, and environmental standards in compliance with Ugandan regulations.
• Collaborate with other shift teams and the planning department to achieve daily production targets.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to cost-saving initiatives.

Requirements & Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field from a recognised institution.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a maintenance or engineering role within a heavy manufacturing or industrial setting in Uganda.
• Proven experience with PLC systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and heavy machinery.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to maintenance.
• In-depth knowledge of Ugandan safety standards and regulations.
