TotalEnergies EP Uganda, a leading energy company operating in Uganda's oil and gas sector, is seeking an experienced and qualified Lead Inspection Engineer to join our dynamic team. Job Purpose & Key Responsibilities
As the Lead Inspection Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, safety, and reliability of our facilities and equipment. You will be responsible for:
- Developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive inspection programmes for static equipment, pipelines, and structures
- Leading a team of inspection technicians and coordinating inspection activities across project sites
- Ensuring compliance with Ugandan regulations, international standards (API, ASME), and TotalEnergies corporate requirements
- Analysing inspection data, preparing technical reports, and recommending corrective actions
- Managing inspection contracts and liaising with third-party inspection service providers
- Participating in risk-based inspection (RBI) studies and integrity management programmes
- Supporting project teams during construction, commissioning, and operational phases
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or related field from a recognised institution
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in inspection engineering within the oil and gas industry, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Professional certification as an API 510 Pressure Vessel Inspector, API 570 Piping Inspector, or equivalent
- Extensive knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and inspection technologies
- Proven experience working on major projects in Uganda or the East African region
- Strong understanding of Ugandan petroleum regulations and industry standards
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
