Job Description

Transform Lives as a Senior Technical Program Manager in Uganda

World Vision International, a leading Christian humanitarian organisation with over 70 years of global experience, is seeking a dedicated and strategic Senior Manager, Technical Program Management to join our team in Kampala, Uganda. This is a senior leadership role within our Global Field Operations, focused on overcoming poverty and enabling vulnerable children across Uganda to experience fullness of life.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide strategic leadership for the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of World Vision's technical programmes throughout Uganda.
  • Offer technical leadership across key sectors including Public Health, Nutrition, WASH, Education, Child Protection, and Livelihoods.
  • Ensure all programmes meet the highest standards of quality, adhere to technical best practices, and comply with donor requirements (USAID, DFID, EU, UN agencies).
  • Lead the development of compelling concept notes, funding proposals, and comprehensive programme reports.
  • Build the capacity of national field staff and local partners through targeted training, coaching, and mentorship.
  • Represent World Vision Uganda in national-level technical working groups, clusters, and key stakeholder forums.
  • Monitor programme performance using robust M&E frameworks and recommend strategic improvements.
  • Ensure the integration of cross-cutting themes such as gender equality, disability inclusion, faith, and environmental sustainability.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • A Master's degree in a relevant field such as Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or Agricultural Sciences.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in programme management within development or humanitarian contexts, preferably in Uganda or the East Africa region.
  • Demonstrated strong technical expertise in at least two of World Vision's core programme sectors.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale programmes funded by major institutional donors.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor and build teams.
  • Strong track record in successful proposal development and high-quality report writing.
  • Fluency in English is required; knowledge of local Ugandan languages is a strong asset.
