Senior Manager, Corporate Relations Job at Diageo Uganda - Kampala

Diageo Uganda, a leading global beverage company, is seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Corporate Relations to join our team in Kampala. This is a senior leadership role responsible for shaping and protecting Diageo's reputation and stakeholder relationships across Uganda.

About the Role:
As the Senior Manager, Corporate Relations, you will develop and execute comprehensive corporate relations strategies. You will be the key liaison between Diageo, the media, government bodies, and local communities, driving our commitment to positive social impact and sustainable business practices in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement strategic corporate relations and public affairs plans to enhance Diageo's brand reputation in Uganda.
• Lead media relations, including managing press inquiries, crafting press releases, and building strong relationships with Ugandan journalists and media houses.
• Oversee government affairs and policy engagement, ensuring alignment with national regulations and fostering positive relationships with key ministries and agencies.
• Drive community engagement and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives that align with local needs and Diageo's sustainability goals, such as our Society 2030: Spirit of Progress agenda.
• Manage crisis communications and protect the company's reputation during sensitive situations.
• Lead a team and collaborate with internal departments to ensure consistent messaging and stakeholder engagement.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, or public affairs, preferably within the FMCG or beverage industry.
• In-depth knowledge of the Ugandan media landscape, government structures, and political environment.
• Proven track record in managing successful media campaigns and stakeholder engagement programmes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
