BRAC Uganda Bank Limited, a leading financial institution committed to inclusive banking, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safeguarding Manager to join our Human Resources team in Kampala. This is a senior-level role critical to fostering a safe, secure, and supportive work environment for all our staff, partners, and stakeholders across Uganda.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Human Resources, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring comprehensive safeguarding policies and procedures. You will ensure the bank complies with all legal and organisational standards while championing the physical and mental wellness of our workforce. This role is ideal for an HR professional passionate about creating a culture of safety, trust, and respect.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, review, and implementation of safeguarding policies for staff, partners, volunteers, and service providers.
- Act as the primary contact for reporting safeguarding violations and grievances, providing survivor-centred support.
- Maintain and manage an online safeguarding case reporting and management platform.
- Conduct periodic safeguarding compliance and risk assessments across all bank locations.
- Build and manage a network of Safeguarding Champions at every branch to ensure policy adherence.
- Oversee the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) provisions and staff wellness programmes, including medical insurance and leave utilisation.
- Design and monitor physical and mental wellness initiatives, such as sports programmes and staff counselling services.
- Lead and mentor officers/interns within the Safeguarding unit.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- A Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Organisational Psychology, or Gender & Women Studies.
- A Post-Graduate diploma or Masterβs degree in a related field is a strong added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in human resource management, with at least 3 years specifically in Safeguarding or Employee Relations at a supervisory level.
- Prior experience in the banking or financial sector in Uganda is preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills, high confidentiality, and experience handling sensitive cases.
- Strong facilitation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
