BRAC Uganda Bank Limited, a leading financial institution in Uganda, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Safeguarding Manager to join our Human Resources team in Kampala. This is a senior-level position responsible for ensuring a safe, secure, and supportive environment for all staff, partners, and stakeholders across our nationwide operations.
Job Purpose
To develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive safeguarding policies and procedures. You will lead efforts to prevent harm, manage reported cases with sensitivity, ensure compliance with legal and organisational standards, and promote the overall wellness and safety of all BRAC Uganda Bank personnel.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead the design, review, and implementation of Safeguarding policies for staff, partners, volunteers, and service providers.
- Act as the primary contact for reporting safeguarding violations and grievances, providing survivor-centred support.
- Maintain and manage an online safeguarding case reporting and management platform.
- Conduct periodic safeguarding compliance and risk assessments across all bank locations.
- Build and manage a network of Safeguarding Champions at every branch to ensure policy adherence.
- Lead timely case management and ensure the Bank meets all safeguarding obligations.
- Oversee the annual safeguarding budget, monitoring expenditure and follow-up actions.
- Ensure staff safety through implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) provisions.
- Monitor staff medical insurance, Group Personal/Group Life Assurance, and coordinate with service providers.
- Promote work-life balance by monitoring leave utilisation and designing staff wellness programmes (physical & mental).
- Provide effective supervision and mentoring to officers/interns within the Safeguarding unit.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Organisational Psychology, or Gender & Women Studies.
- Post-Graduate diploma or Master's degree in a related field is a strong added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in HR management, with at least 3 years specifically in Safeguarding or Employee Relations at a supervisory level.
- Prior experience in the banking or financial services sector in Uganda is preferred.
- Excellent conceptual, analytical, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive and complex cases with the highest confidentiality.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and function both independently and as part of a team.
