Watu, a dynamic and growing company, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to join our team in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This is a strategic role for a seasoned HR professional looking to drive people initiatives and support business growth in a fast-paced environment.

About the Role

As an HR Business Partner at Watu, you will serve as a strategic consultant to management on human resource-related issues. You will act as an employee champion and change agent, assessing and anticipating HR-related needs. This position requires a proactive approach to communicating needs and delivering value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leaders to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counselling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues, conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
  • Analyse trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programmes, and policies.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation, ensuring compliance with Tanzanian labour laws and regulations.
  • Support talent management processes including workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development.
  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programmes to ensure success, following up to ensure training objectives are met.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues as an HR Business Partner or HR Generalist.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organisational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and Tanzanian employment laws.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to organise, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS systems.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., CIPD, SHRM) is a strong advantage.
