Programme Specialist - Women's Economic Empowerment Job at UN Women Uganda, Kampala
Job Description
UN Women Uganda is seeking a dedicated and experienced Programme Specialist for Women's Economic Empowerment to join our team in Kampala. This is a senior-level opportunity to lead transformative programmes that advance gender equality and women's economic rights across Uganda.
As a key member of our team, you will play a central role in designing, managing, and implementing high-impact strategies that empower Ugandan women economically. You will work closely with government ministries, civil society organisations, and development partners to create sustainable change.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive strategies and programmes for women's economic empowerment in Uganda.
- Provide high-level technical support and capacity building to government partners, including relevant ministries, and civil society organisations.
- Oversee programme budgets, ensuring efficient financial management, timely disbursements, and accurate reporting in line with UN Women and donor requirements.
- Design and implement robust monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks to track programme impact, outcomes, and lessons learned.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including the private sector, to leverage resources and support for women's economic initiatives.
- Prepare high-quality reports, policy briefs, and knowledge products on women's economic empowerment in the Ugandan context.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- A Master's degree in Economics, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive, professional experience specifically in designing and managing women's economic empowerment programmes.
- Proven, in-depth knowledge of gender equality, women's rights frameworks, and the socio-economic landscape in Uganda.
- Demonstrated experience in programme budgeting, financial management, and donor reporting.
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and partnership-building skills with a wide range of actors.
- Strong analytical, writing, and presentation abilities.
