Immunization Program Officer Career Opportunity at PATH Uganda
PATH, a global leader in public health innovation, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Program Officer for Immunization to join our team in Kampala, Uganda. This is a critical role supporting Uganda's national immunisation efforts and strengthening health systems to improve vaccine coverage across the country.
About PATH in Uganda
PATH works in partnership with the Uganda Ministry of Health and other key stakeholders to address pressing public health challenges. Our immunisation programmes aim to increase access to life-saving vaccines, support outbreak response, and build sustainable health systems that benefit all Ugandans.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of immunisation programmes in Uganda
- Work closely with the Ministry of Health and district health teams to strengthen immunisation systems
- Coordinate with multiple stakeholders including development partners and community organisations
- Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track programme performance
- Conduct training and capacity building for health workers on immunisation best practices
- Prepare detailed programme reports, documentation, and presentations
- Support immunisation outreach activities and community engagement initiatives
- Contribute to outbreak response planning and implementation for vaccine-preventable diseases
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field (Master's degree is an added advantage)
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience implementing public health programmes in Uganda, preferably in immunisation
- Proven experience working with Uganda's public health system and understanding of MOH structures
- Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (knowledge of local languages is beneficial)
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with government officials and community leaders
- Experience in data collection, analysis, and report writing for health programmes
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a diverse team
- Willingness to travel frequently within Uganda to support field activities
