Job Summary

As a Dispenser, you will play a crucial role in our pharmacy operations. Your primary responsibility will be to accurately prepare, document, and dispense medications and medical supplies to various hospital units and directly to our clients. You will be a key point of contact for patients, requiring a professional, empathetic, and communicative approach to ensure they understand their treatment regimens, thereby improving adherence and health outcomes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Accurately interpret prescriptions and dispense the correct medication and dosage to patients and hospital units.
• Maintain meticulous documentation and records of all dispensed drugs and supplies in accordance with regulatory standards.
• Provide clear, accurate, and empathetic counselling to patients on how to take their medication, potential side effects, and storage requirements.
• Participate in drug inventory management, including stock-taking and ensuring proper storage conditions.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
• Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and patient confidentiality at all times.

Requirements and Qualifications

• A Diploma in Pharmacy (or equivalent) from a recognised institution in Uganda.
• Must be registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council of Uganda.
• Proven experience working as a dispenser or in a similar pharmacy technician role is a strong advantage.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine empathy for patients.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and a commitment to accuracy.
• Basic computer literacy for documentation purposes.
• Knowledge of local drug regulations and inventory management.
