Operational Risk & Financial Crimes Officer Job at PostBank Uganda in Kampala

PostBank Uganda, a leading financial institution, is seeking a dedicated and analytical Risk Officer specializing in Operational Risk and Financial Crimes to join our team in Kampala. This is a critical role in safeguarding the bank's assets and ensuring compliance with Ugandan regulations.

In this position, you will be at the forefront of identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks while implementing robust frameworks to prevent financial crimes such as fraud, money laundering, and terrorist financing. You will work closely with various departments to foster a strong risk culture across the bank.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor the bank's operational risk management framework and policies.
• Conduct risk assessments and control evaluations to identify vulnerabilities in bank processes.
• Investigate and report on incidents of fraud, operational losses, and other financial crimes.
• Ensure compliance with the Bank of Uganda guidelines, the Anti-Money Laundering Act, and other relevant Ugandan laws.
• Deliver training to staff on operational risk awareness and financial crime prevention.
• Prepare detailed risk reports for management and relevant committees.
• Collaborate with internal audit and compliance teams to strengthen the control environment.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or a related field from a recognised Ugandan or international university.
• Professional certification in risk management, audit, or compliance (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CISA) is a strong advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in operational risk, internal audit, compliance, or fraud investigation within the Ugandan banking or financial services sector.
• In-depth knowledge of Ugandan financial regulations and the local risk landscape.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and report-writing skills.
• High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
