Pearl Bank Uganda, a trusted financial institution, is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented professional for the position of Risk Officer specializing in Operational Risk & Financial Crimes. This is a critical role within our Risk Management department, based at our head office in Kampala. Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Develop, implement, and monitor the bank's operational risk management framework and policies.
- Identify, assess, and report on operational risks across all business units and processes.
- Lead investigations into potential financial crimes, including fraud, money laundering, and terrorist financing.
- Ensure strict compliance with Bank of Uganda regulations, the Anti-Money Laundering Act, and other relevant Ugandan laws.
- Conduct risk assessments and control testing to evaluate the effectiveness of existing mitigants.
- Prepare detailed risk reports for management and relevant committees.
- Deliver training to staff on operational risk awareness and financial crime prevention.
- Stay updated on emerging risks, regulatory changes, and industry best practices within the Ugandan financial sector.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or a related field from a recognised Ugandan or international university.
- Professional certification in risk management, compliance, or auditing (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CRA) is a strong advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in operational risk, internal audit, compliance, or financial crime prevention within a bank, microfinance, or financial services company in Uganda.
- In-depth knowledge of Ugandan banking regulations, the National Payment Systems Act, and AML/CFT frameworks.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
