Monitoring & Evaluation Officer Job in Jinja, Uganda - Maternal & Child Health

The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Monitoring & Evaluation Officer to join our team in Jinja, Uganda. This is a critical role supporting our life-saving maternal and child health programmes in Eastern Uganda. About the Role
As a Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, you will be at the heart of our programme's success, ensuring we accurately track progress, measure impact, and use data to make informed decisions. You will work closely with programme teams to strengthen health systems and contribute directly to improving the lives of mothers and children in the region.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust Monitoring & Evaluation frameworks and systems for maternal and child health programmes.
- Collect, manage, and analyse quantitative and qualitative health data from the field.
- Prepare comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and annual M&E reports for management and donors.
- Build the capacity of programme staff and partners in M&E procedures and data utilisation.
- Support programme teams in using M&E data for strategic planning and evidence-based decision-making.
- Ensure data quality through regular audits and validation exercises.
- Maintain and update programme databases and dashboards.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Public Health, Demography, Economics, or a related field. A Master's degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in Monitoring & Evaluation, specifically within health programmes in Uganda.
- Proven proficiency in data management and analysis software (e.g., DHIS2, SPSS, Stata, Excel Advanced).
- Strong understanding of the Ugandan public health system, particularly in Eastern Uganda.
- Excellent analytical, report-writing, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of local languages spoken in Eastern Uganda (e.g., Lusoga) is a strong asset.
