Job Description

TotalEnergies EP Uganda is seeking a highly experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Uganda. This is a senior-level, regular position offering an exceptional opportunity to contribute to major energy projects in the country. As a Lead Mechanical Engineer with TotalEnergies, you will play a pivotal role in our operations. You will be responsible for overseeing critical mechanical engineering activities, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and compliance with both international and Ugandan regulations.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:
β€’ Lead the planning, design, and execution of mechanical engineering projects for upstream oil and gas operations.
β€’ Provide technical expertise and supervision for all mechanical systems, including rotating equipment, pressure vessels, pipelines, and utilities.
β€’ Ensure all engineering designs and activities comply with TotalEnergies' standards, Ugandan national laws, and international safety codes.
β€’ Manage a team of engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
β€’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, construction, and maintenance, to ensure project deliverables are met on time and within budget.
β€’ Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for mechanical engineering activities.
β€’ Oversee the preparation of technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for projects in Uganda.

Requirements & Qualifications:
β€’ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field from a recognised institution. A Master's degree is an added advantage.
β€’ Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering, with significant exposure in the oil and gas industry.
β€’ Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams on major projects.
β€’ Professional registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) of Uganda is highly desirable.
β€’ In-depth knowledge of industry standards (API, ASME, ISO) and their application in the Ugandan context.
β€’ Excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
β€’ Strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
