Job Description
TotalEnergies EP Uganda is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Inspection Engineer to join our dynamic team in Uganda's growing oil and gas sector. This is a regular, full-time position offering a unique opportunity to contribute to one of East Africa's most significant energy projects.
As the Lead Inspection Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, safety, and reliability of our static equipment and piping systems. You will be at the forefront of our asset integrity management programme, working on the Tilenga project and other key operations.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Develop, implement, and manage the inspection strategy and programme for all static equipment.
β’ Lead a team of inspection engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
β’ Ensure compliance with TotalEnergies standards, Ugandan regulations, and international codes (API, ASME).
β’ Plan and execute routine and non-routine inspections, including risk-based assessment (RBI).
β’ Analyse inspection data, evaluate equipment condition, and recommend repair or replacement strategies.
β’ Manage inspection contracts, budgets, and relationships with third-party service providers.
β’ Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to management and relevant authorities.
β’ Drive continuous improvement in inspection processes and safety performance.
Requirements:
β’ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
β’ Minimum of 8 years of experience in inspection engineering within the oil, gas, or petrochemical industry.
β’ Professional certification (API 510, 570, 653) or equivalent is highly desirable.
β’ Proven leadership experience and strong team management skills.
β’ In-depth knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques and integrity software.
β’ Excellent knowledge of Ugandan oil and gas regulations and international standards.
β’ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
