Job Description
TotalEnergies EP Uganda is seeking a highly experienced Lead Inspection Engineer to join our dynamic team in Uganda's growing oil and gas sector. This is a regular, full-time position offering a unique opportunity to contribute to one of East Africa's most significant energy projects.
As the Lead Inspection Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, safety, and reliability of our facilities and equipment. You will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive inspection strategies that meet both international standards and Uganda's specific regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Develop, implement, and manage the technical inspection programme for all static equipment, pipelines, and structures.
β’ Ensure all inspection activities comply with TotalEnergies standards, Ugandan regulations, and international codes (ASME, API, etc.).
β’ Lead a team of inspection engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
β’ Analyse inspection data, assess equipment condition, and recommend repair, replacement, or maintenance actions.
β’ Manage relationships with inspection contractors and ensure quality of third-party services.
β’ Prepare detailed technical reports for management and regulatory bodies like the Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU).
β’ Drive continuous improvement in inspection methodologies and corrosion management strategies.
Requirements & Qualifications:
β’ Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is an added advantage.
β’ Minimum of 8 years of proven experience in inspection engineering within the oil, gas, or petrochemical industry.
β’ Professional certification (e.g., API 510, API 570, API 653, NACE) is mandatory.
β’ In-depth knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques and integrity management software.
β’ Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and contractors.
β’ Excellent knowledge of Ugandan oil and gas regulations and standards.
