Key Responsibilities

As an IT Support Specialist at Old Mutual Uganda, you will be the go-to expert for all technical issues, ensuring our staff can work efficiently and securely. Your main duties will include:

  • Providing first and second-line technical support to staff across the Kampala office, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues promptly.
  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems, applications, and peripheral devices.
  • Monitoring and maintaining local area networks (LAN), internet connectivity, and server performance to ensure optimal uptime.
  • Implementing basic cybersecurity measures and assisting with data backup and recovery procedures.
  • Providing basic training and guidance to users on company software and IT best practices.
  • Documenting IT processes, issues, and solutions to build a knowledge base for the team.
  • Collaborating with regional IT teams on larger projects and system upgrades.

Qualifications and Experience Required

To be successful in this IT Support Specialist role, you should possess the following:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field from a recognised university.
  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in an IT support or helpdesk role, preferably within a corporate or financial services environment in Uganda.
  • Strong practical knowledge of network administration (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), Windows operating systems, and Microsoft 365.
  • Proven ability in hardware repair, software troubleshooting, and printer support.
  • An understanding of fundamental cybersecurity principles.
  • Professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) will be a significant advantage.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, patience, and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
