Key Responsibilities
As an IT Support Specialist at Old Mutual Uganda, you will play a vital role in ensuring our staff have reliable and efficient technology systems. Your core duties will include:
- Providing first-line and second-line technical support to staff across the Kampala office.
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and software issues promptly to minimise downtime.
- Maintaining and updating IT inventory and system documentation.
- Providing basic training and guidance to staff on the use of standard IT systems and applications.
- Assisting with the implementation of IT security protocols and data backup procedures.
- Collaborating with the wider IT team on projects and system improvements.
Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful in this IT Support Specialist role, you should possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field from a recognised institution.
- A minimum of 3 years of proven experience in an IT support or helpdesk role, preferably within a corporate environment in Uganda.
- Strong practical knowledge of computer networking, hardware troubleshooting, and software applications (Windows OS, MS Office 365, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to explain technical solutions in simple terms.
- A customer-focused attitude, patience, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional) will be an added advantage.
