Airtel Uganda, a leading telecommunications company in Uganda, is seeking a skilled and experienced IT Security Specialist to join our dynamic team in Kampala. This is a senior-level opportunity to protect our critical infrastructure and customer data in Uganda's fast-growing digital landscape.

About the Role

As an IT Security Specialist at Airtel Uganda, you will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enhancing our security posture to safeguard against cyber threats. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our information systems across Uganda.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor robust security measures for Airtel Uganda's network and systems.
• Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
• Develop, implement, and enforce IT security policies and protocols.
• Respond promptly to security incidents and lead investigations.
• Manage security tools and technologies to protect against unauthorised access.
• Provide security awareness training to staff across Uganda operations.
• Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats and trends relevant to the Ugandan and regional market.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure design and deployment of new systems.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from a recognised institution.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in IT security, preferably within the telecommunications, fintech, or banking sector in Uganda or East Africa.
• Professional certification such as CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or CISM (Certified Information Security Manager) is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of network security, encryption, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Proven experience in conducting security audits and incident response.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication skills to interact with teams across Airtel Uganda.
