Job Description
Kijani Forestry, a leader in sustainable forestry and agroforestry in Uganda, is excited to announce our IT Graduate Trainee Programme. This is a unique opportunity for recent graduates to launch their IT careers with hands-on experience in a dynamic, purpose-driven organisation based in Gulu. We are looking for passionate, tech-savvy individuals eager to apply their academic knowledge to real-world challenges in environmental conservation and business operations.
About the Role:
As an IT Graduate Trainee, you will be immersed in our technology infrastructure, supporting our mission to promote sustainable forestry across Uganda. You will work under the guidance of experienced IT professionals, gaining invaluable practical skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first-line technical support to staff across the Gulu office and field operations.
- Assist in the maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and network systems.
- Support the implementation and management of business applications and databases.
- Participate in IT projects related to data management, digital tools for forestry, and process automation.
- Help ensure cybersecurity best practices are followed within the organisation.
- Document IT procedures and provide basic training to end-users.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field from a recognised Ugandan or international university.
- Graduated within the last two years (2022 or 2023).
- Strong foundational knowledge in networking, hardware, and common software applications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen willingness to learn.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Passion for technology and its application in sustainable development is a plus.
- Must be willing to be based in Gulu, Northern Uganda.
