GIS and Data Officer Job in Uganda - ACTED NGO Careers

ACTED Uganda is seeking a skilled and dedicated GIS and Data Officer to join our humanitarian team. This is an exciting opportunity for a data professional to contribute to impactful projects that support communities across Uganda.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and manage spatial databases and GIS applications for ACTED's programmes in Uganda.
• Collect, process, and analyse geographical and statistical data from field operations.
• Produce high-quality maps, dashboards, and data visualisations to inform programme planning and donor reporting.
• Support field teams with mobile data collection tools (e.g., Kobo Toolbox, ODK) and provide technical training.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data management systems.
• Collaborate with programme teams to translate data insights into actionable recommendations for project improvement.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in GIS, data management, or analysis, preferably within the NGO or humanitarian sector in Uganda.
• High proficiency in GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS) and data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
• Strong understanding of database management and mobile data collection platforms.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local Ugandan languages is a strong asset.
