Job Description
Pearl Bank Uganda is seeking a qualified and experienced professional for the position of Manager Internal Control – Branch Credit Operations. This is a senior-level role based in Kampala, Uganda, offering an excellent opportunity to lead and strengthen the bank's credit risk management framework across all branch operations.
About the Role:
As the Manager Internal Control for Branch Credit Operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of all credit-related activities within the bank's branch network. You will play a critical role in safeguarding the bank's assets by implementing robust internal control systems and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal control policies and procedures for branch credit operations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and audits of credit processes across all branches.
- Ensure compliance with the Bank of Uganda regulations, internal policies, and international best practices.
- Review and analyse credit files, approvals, and disbursements to identify control weaknesses or irregularities.
- Train and guide branch staff on credit control procedures, compliance requirements, and risk management.
- Investigate incidents of fraud or procedural breaches within the credit function and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare detailed reports on control findings, risk exposure, and recommendations for senior management.
- Collaborate with the credit, operations, and audit departments to enhance overall control environments.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIA) is a strong advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in internal control, audit, or risk management within the banking or financial services sector in Uganda.
- In-depth knowledge of Ugandan banking regulations and credit management processes.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and professionalism.
