Human Resources Business Partner Job Opportunity at Diageo Uganda

Diageo, a world-renowned leader in premium drinks, is seeking an experienced and strategic Human Resources Business Partner to join our team in Kampala, Uganda. This is a senior HR role where you will be a key driver in aligning our people strategy with business objectives, fostering a high-performance culture, and supporting our talented workforce in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Partner with business unit leaders to develop and implement effective HR strategies that support organisational goals.
  • Lead talent management initiatives, including succession planning, talent development, and retention strategies for Ugandan operations.
  • Manage end-to-end employee relations, ensuring compliance with Ugandan labour laws and best practices.
  • Oversee performance management cycles, guiding managers on feedback, development plans, and goal setting.
  • Drive recruitment and selection processes for key roles within your assigned business units.
  • Implement and champion HR policies, procedures, and programmes that enhance employee engagement and wellbeing.
  • Provide expert coaching and guidance to managers on all people-related matters.
  • Handle confidential HR information with the utmost integrity and discretion.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years specifically in an HR Business Partner or similar strategic role.
  • In-depth knowledge and practical application of Ugandan employment law and statutory requirements.
  • Proven experience in a multinational corporation (MNC) is highly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., CIPD, SHRM, HRMAU) is a distinct advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to inform HR decisions.
