Exciting Government Career Opportunity: Head of Project Execution
The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development is seeking two highly qualified and experienced professionals to fill the critical roles of Head of Project Execution within the Private Sector Development Unit (PSDU) and the Sustainable Public Procurement Secretariat. These are senior leadership positions based in Kampala, Uganda, offering a unique opportunity to drive national development initiatives and shape Uganda's economic future.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all project execution activities within the assigned unit (PSDU or Sustainable Public Procurement Secretariat).
- Develop, implement, and monitor detailed project work plans, ensuring alignment with national development goals and donor requirements where applicable.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources efficiently to deliver outputs on schedule and within scope.
- Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of project staff, fostering a high-performance culture and professional development.
- Coordinate with multiple stakeholders including government ministries, private sector actors, development partners, and civil society.
- Ensure robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks are in place to track project impact and report on key performance indicators.
- Advise senior ministry leadership on project-related issues, risks, and opportunities for scaling successful interventions.
- Promote the principles of sustainable public procurement and private sector development across government programmes.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- A Master's degree in Project Planning & Management, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field from a recognised institution.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing large-scale development projects.
- Proven track record in private sector development, public procurement reform, or related areas within the Ugandan or East African context.
- Strong financial management, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation abilities.
- Professional certification in Project Management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMP) is a distinct advantage.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to public service values.
