About the Role

As the Head of Business Development, you will be responsible for crafting and executing strategies to increase Old Mutual's market share, revenue, and brand presence across Uganda. You will lead initiatives to identify lucrative market opportunities, forge strategic partnerships, and build lasting relationships with key clients and stakeholders in the financial sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive business growth and expansion strategies for Old Mutual Uganda.
  • Conduct thorough market analysis to identify new opportunities and trends in Uganda's financial services industry.
  • Build and manage strategic partnerships with institutions, corporates, and key market players.
  • Lead client relationship management initiatives to enhance customer acquisition and retention.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, sales, and product development to achieve business objectives.
  • Drive revenue growth by exploring new market segments and product offerings.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing business development team.
  • Monitor industry developments and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Commerce, or a related field; an MBA will be a strong added advantage.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in business development, sales, or strategic roles within the financial services sector in Uganda.
  • Proven track record of driving business growth, achieving targets, and expanding market share.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Ugandan financial market, regulations, and consumer behaviour.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience managing teams.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset.
