Financial Accountant Career Opportunity at UGAFODE Microfinance Ltd (MDI)
UGAFODE Microfinance Limited (MDI), a leading and trusted financial institution in Uganda founded in 1994, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our team at the Head Office in Kampala. As a regulated institution adhering to Bank of Uganda guidelines, we offer a stable and professional environment for career growth in Uganda's finance sector.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to contribute to the financial integrity and success of a reputable microfinance provider dedicated to serving communities across Uganda.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports in compliance with Ugandan accounting standards.
- Manage general ledger operations, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure strict adherence to internal controls, financial policies, and Bank of Uganda regulations.
- Assist in budget preparation, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Support the audit process by liaising with external auditors and providing necessary documentation.
- Monitor cash flow, manage treasury functions, and ensure efficient financial operations.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of improved financial systems and procedures.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field from a recognised institution.
- Full professional accounting qualification (CPA or ACCA) is mandatory.
- Minimum of 3 years of proven work experience in accounting or finance, preferably within the banking, microfinance, or financial services sector in Uganda.
- Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- In-depth knowledge of Ugandan financial regulations and IFRS.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and excellent analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
