Financial Accountant Job at Hima Cement in Kampala, Uganda

Hima Cement Limited, a leading building solutions company in Uganda, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join its dynamic finance team in Kampala. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to contribute to a major industry player committed to national development.

As a Financial Accountant at Hima Cement, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health and integrity of our operations. You will be responsible for preparing accurate financial statements, managing accounts, ensuring compliance with Ugandan accounting standards and tax regulations, and supporting strategic financial planning.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and statements.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and reconciliation.
• Oversee general ledger maintenance and perform month-end and year-end close processes.
• Ensure strict compliance with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) tax regulations and filing requirements.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support business decisions.
• Conduct internal audits and implement robust financial controls.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support.
• Utilise accounting software to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

Requirements & Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is a strong advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a financial accounting role, preferably within manufacturing, FMCG, or a related sector in Uganda.
• In-depth knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Ugandan tax laws.
• High proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication skills and high ethical standards.
