Financial Accountant Job in Kampala at UGAFODE Microfinance (MDI)
Job Description
UGAFODE Microfinance Limited (MDI), a leading and trusted financial institution in Uganda, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our team at the Head Office in Kampala. Founded in 1994, we are committed to providing quality microfinance services while adhering to the highest standards set by the Bank of Uganda. As a Financial Accountant at UGAFODE, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of our operations. You will be responsible for preparing accurate financial reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting the overall financial health of the institution.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Ugandan accounting standards.
β’ Ensure strict compliance with all Bank of Uganda regulations and internal financial policies.
β’ Manage general ledger accounts, reconciliations, and the month-end closing process.
β’ Assist in budget preparation, monitoring, and variance analysis.
β’ Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
β’ Contribute to the development and implementation of robust financial controls and procedures.
β’ Process and verify financial transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Requirements & Qualifications:
β’ A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field from a recognised Ugandan university.
β’ Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is highly desirable.
β’ Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in an accounting role, preferably within the financial services or microfinance sector in Uganda.
β’ Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
β’ In-depth knowledge of Ugandan financial regulations and IFRS.
β’ Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
β’ High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
