GL Reconciliation Officer Job in Kampala - NCBA Bank Uganda

NCBA Bank Uganda, a leading financial institution, is seeking a meticulous and analytical GL Reconciliation Officer to join our Financial Controls unit within the Finance division in Kampala. About the Role:
As a GL Reconciliation Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our general ledger accounts. You will be responsible for performing daily, monthly, and quarterly reconciliations, investigating discrepancies, and supporting the financial reporting process. Your work will be essential in maintaining robust internal controls and ensuring compliance with banking regulations in Uganda.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform daily and monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts, including suspense accounts, nostro/vostro accounts, and inter-branch accounts.
• Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner, liaising with relevant internal departments.
• Prepare detailed reconciliation reports and ensure all supporting documentation is properly filed.
• Assist in the month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Identify process improvements and contribute to the enhancement of reconciliation procedures and controls.
• Support internal and external audit processes by providing required schedules and explanations.
• Ensure compliance with the Bank of Uganda regulations and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

Requirements & Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field from a recognised Ugandan or international university.
• Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA (U), or CIMA is a strong advantage.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience in a reconciliation, financial controls, or accounting role, preferably within the banking or financial services sector in Uganda.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with core banking systems and accounting software.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and a high level of accuracy.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and internal control frameworks.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
