Finance and Administration Assistant Job at PATH Uganda - Kampala
Job Description
PATH Uganda is seeking a skilled Finance and Administration Assistant to join our team in Kampala. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional to contribute to our mission of improving public health in Uganda while developing their career with a leading global health organisation.
As a Finance and Administration Assistant at PATH Uganda, you will play a crucial role in supporting our financial management and office operations. You will work closely with our finance and administration teams to ensure efficient processes and compliance with organisational and donor requirements.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Process and verify payments, invoices, and staff expense reports in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate financial records, documentation, and filing systems for audit purposes
- Support budget monitoring, financial analysis, and preparation of reports for management and donors
- Assist with procurement processes, vendor management, and office inventory control
- Provide general administrative support for day-to-day office operations in Kampala
- Coordinate travel arrangements, logistics, and meetings for staff and visitors
- Support human resources functions including recruitment, onboarding, and staff records
- Ensure compliance with PATH policies, Ugandan regulations, and donor requirements
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce or related field from a recognised Ugandan university
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in finance and administration roles in Uganda
- Solid knowledge of accounting principles, financial management, and Ugandan tax regulations
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, etc.) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience working with donor-funded projects (USAID, Global Fund, etc.) is highly preferred
- Professional certification such as CPA or ACCA will be a significant advantage
- Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus
