Finance Officer Job in Gulu, Uganda - World Vision International

World Vision International Uganda is seeking a dedicated and experienced Finance Officer to join our team in Gulu. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional to contribute to meaningful community development work in Northern Uganda while advancing their career with a leading global humanitarian organisation.

As a Finance Officer with World Vision in Gulu, you will play a crucial role in supporting our financial operations and ensuring the effective implementation of our development programmes in the region. You will work closely with programme teams to maintain financial integrity and support our mission of transforming the lives of vulnerable children and their communities.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage day-to-day financial transactions, reporting, and accounting processes for the Gulu office
• Ensure strict compliance with World Vision's financial policies, procedures, and donor requirements
• Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of programme budgets and financial forecasts
• Support internal and external audit processes, including preparation of documentation and implementation of recommendations
• Process payments, reconcile bank accounts, and maintain accurate financial records
• Provide financial guidance and support to programme staff regarding compliance and budget management
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports as required
• Maintain proper filing systems for all financial documents and records

Requirements and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or related field from a recognised university
• Professional accounting certification (ACCA, CPA) is a significant advantage
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting roles, preferably with an NGO or development organisation
• Strong proficiency in accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and high level of integrity
• Knowledge of Ugandan tax laws and financial regulations
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
