Key Responsibilities & Duties

As a Finance Officer at Old Mutual Uganda, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our financial integrity and supporting strategic decision-making. Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Managing day-to-day financial transactions and ensuring accurate record-keeping in compliance with Ugandan accounting standards.
  • Preparing timely financial reports, budgets, and forecasts for management review.
  • Conducting thorough financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimisation.
  • Performing regular account reconciliations and maintaining the general ledger.
  • Supporting both internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of financial controls and procedures.
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure financial processes align with business objectives.

Qualifications & Requirements

To be successful in this Finance Officer role, you should possess the following:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field from a recognised institution.
  • Professional accounting certification such as ACCA or CPA is a significant advantage.
  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably within the financial services, insurance, or a related sector in Uganda.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, SAP) and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of Ugandan financial regulations and tax laws.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards.
