Diageo, a world-leading premium drinks company with iconic brands across spirits and beer, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Finance Manager to join our East Africa team based in Kampala, Uganda. This is a senior leadership role offering the opportunity to provide financial stewardship for our operations across the region and drive business performance in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

About the Role

As the Finance Manager for East Africa, you will be the financial leader on the ground, ensuring the integrity of all financial activities and providing strategic insights to support growth. You will work closely with both regional and global teams, making this a highly visible and impactful position within one of Uganda's top multinational employers.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Oversee the preparation and in-depth analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the East Africa region.
• Lead the development, management, and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
• Ensure full compliance with Ugandan tax regulations, statutory reporting requirements, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Design, implement, and maintain robust internal control systems and risk management frameworks.
• Provide critical financial analysis, modelling, and recommendations to senior management to guide commercial decisions and strategy.
• Manage regional cash flow, optimise working capital, and ensure efficient treasury operations.
• Collaborate effectively with regional and global finance teams on consolidated reporting and planning cycles.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team in Uganda, fostering a high-performance culture.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required

• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field from a recognised university.
• A full professional accounting qualification (CPA, ACCA, or CIMA) is mandatory.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in finance management, with a strong preference for candidates from multinational FMCG, manufacturing, or consumer goods companies.
• Expert-level knowledge of IFRS and Ugandan accounting standards.
• Hands-on experience with major ERP systems; proficiency in SAP is highly preferred.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities.
• Proven leadership skills with experience in managing and developing teams.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Resilience and the ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines common in a multinational corporate setting.
