Job Summary
The Finance and Operations Director will provide strategic leadership in financial management, operations, and compliance for World Vision Uganda's programmes. This senior role is critical for ensuring the efficient use of resources, strict compliance with donor and government regulations, and the strengthening of financial systems to maximise our impact in Ugandan communities.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide overall strategic leadership and management for the finance and operations departments.
- Develop, monitor, and report on annual organisational budgets and financial performance.
- Ensure full compliance with donor requirements (e.g., USAID, UN, EU), organisational policies, and Ugandan laws including tax and financial regulations.
- Strengthen internal financial systems, controls, and organisational risk management frameworks.
- Oversee and lead the procurement, logistics, IT, and asset management functions.
- Manage key external relationships with banks, auditors, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Build the capacity of finance and operations staff through mentorship and training.
- Ensure the preparation and submission of timely, accurate financial reports to National Office, Support Offices, and donors.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A professional accounting qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is mandatory.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive senior management experience in finance and operations, preferably within the NGO sector.
- Proven experience with NGO financial management, donor fund compliance, and grant reporting.
- Strong knowledge of Ugandan tax laws, financial regulations, and the local operational context.
- Excellent analytical, strategic leadership, and communication skills.
- High proficiency in financial management software and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Fluency in English is required.
