World Vision International, a global Christian humanitarian organisation with over 70 years of experience, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Finance and Grants Manager to join our team in Kampala, Uganda. This is a local fixed-term position where you will play a critical role in transforming the lives of vulnerable children across Uganda through effective financial stewardship and grants management.

About the Role

As the Finance and Grants Manager for World Vision Uganda (WVU), you will provide strategic leadership in financial management and ensure strict compliance with diverse donor requirements. You will be responsible for overseeing the financial health of our programmes, managing grants from major donors like USAID, EU, and UN agencies, and building the capacity of our finance team. This senior role is central to our mission of helping children overcome poverty and experience fullness of life.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide overall leadership in financial management and grants compliance for World Vision Uganda's operations.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage budgets for various programmes and donor-funded grants.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for both internal management and external donors.
  • Ensure full compliance with WVU financial policies, procedures, and all donor-specific regulations.
  • Oversee the grants management cycle, from proposal budgeting to final financial reporting.
  • Lead financial risk management initiatives and implement robust internal controls.
  • Manage internal and external audits and ensure timely implementation of audit recommendations.
  • Build the financial management capacity of finance and programme staff through training and mentorship.
  • Ensure efficient use of resources to maximise impact for vulnerable children in Uganda.

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • A Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • A professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is a strong advantage.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in finance and grants management, preferably within the NGO or development sector in Uganda.
  • Proven expertise and strong knowledge of major donor financial regulations (e.g., USAID, EU, UN, DFID, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic financial planning skills.
  • High proficiency in financial management software and the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
  • Demonstrated commitment to World Vision's mission, vision, and core Christian values.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in team capacity building.
