Job Summary
The Finance and Administration Officer will provide comprehensive financial and administrative support to PATH's programmes in Uganda. You will ensure strict compliance with organisational policies and donor requirements while working closely with programme teams to manage budgets, process payments, and maintain meticulous financial records. This role is vital to the smooth operation and financial integrity of our health projects in Uganda.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Manage day-to-day financial operations including processing payments, cash management, and account reconciliation
- Prepare, monitor, and report on project budgets and financial performance
- Ensure full compliance with PATH financial policies and donor requirements (including USAID, Global Fund, and other major donors)
- Support procurement processes and maintain accurate inventory records for the Kampala office
- Manage office administration including logistics, travel arrangements, and event coordination
- Provide timely financial and administrative support to programme implementation teams
- Prepare for and support internal and external audits, ensuring all documentation is complete
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date financial and administrative filing systems
- Assist with monthly financial closings and reporting to headquarters
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, or related field from a recognised Ugandan university
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in finance and administration, preferably with an international NGO or donor-funded organisation
- Strong knowledge of Ugandan accounting standards, principles, and financial management practices
- Proven experience with donor-funded projects and compliance requirements (USAID, EU, UN agencies preferred)
- High proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Excellent organisational, time management, and multitasking abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Full professional fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Must be legally authorised to work in Uganda
- Professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA) is a strong advantage
