Tropical Bank Limited, a leading financial institution in Uganda, is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to fill the role of Consumer Banking Manager in Kampala. This is a senior leadership position where you will be responsible for driving the growth and quality of the bank's consumer loans portfolio, directly supervising Relationship Officers, and executing the bank's strategic vision for consumer banking.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide strategic and tactical leadership to the Consumer Banking segment to achieve growth targets aligned with the bank's overall business strategy.
- Drive client acquisition and proactively manage existing consumer relationships to ensure quality business growth and exceptional customer experience.
- Maximise bank revenue from the consumer portfolio by optimising net interest income and non-funded income while managing costs effectively.
- Continuously review and innovate the customer value proposition to stay competitive within Uganda's changing banking landscape.
- Ensure strict compliance with all bank policies, procedures, and regulations set by the Bank of Uganda and other relevant regulators.
- Monitor portfolio performance, identify potential risks early, and provide regular reports to the Head of Business.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Relationship Officers, setting targets, monitoring performance, and fostering a strong performance culture.
- Champion the bank's digitisation strategy within the consumer banking segment.
- Maintain compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and Consumer Protection Framework (CPF) policies.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, Management, or a relevant field. A Master's degree or certified banking qualification is a strong added advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 6 years' experience in Business/Consumer Banking, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Skills: Excellent networking, leadership, analytical, and stakeholder management skills. Proficiency in professional report writing and proposal drafting.
- Knowledge: In-depth understanding of general banking practices, branch operations, credit principles, and digital banking trends in Uganda.
- Language: Proficiency in English is essential. Knowledge of Luganda or other local languages is a significant advantage for customer engagement.
