Job Summary
The Finance and Administration Officer will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial and administrative operations for PATH's programmes in the Jinja region. This role is crucial for ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and smooth office functioning.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Manage all day-to-day financial operations including processing payments, managing cash flow, and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Prepare and submit monthly financial reports to headquarters in a timely manner.
- Support the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of programme budgets to ensure alignment with activities.
- Ensure strict compliance with PATH's internal policies, donor requirements (such as USAID, Gates Foundation, etc.), and Ugandan regulations.
- Oversee administrative functions including procurement of goods and services, logistics coordination, and general office management.
- Support the preparation of detailed financial reports for donors and other stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary liaison with local banks, vendors, suppliers, and other external partners.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field from a recognised institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in finance and administration, preferably within the NGO or development sector in Uganda.
- Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and general accounting principles.
- Proven experience managing finances for donor-funded projects (e.g., USAID, EU, UN agencies) and understanding their compliance frameworks.
- High proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the Jinja/Busoga region (e.g., Lusoga) is a strong asset.
