Deputy Director, Programs - International Rescue Committee (IRC) Uganda
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Uganda is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Deputy Director, Programs to join our senior leadership team. This is a senior-level opportunity for a seasoned humanitarian professional to oversee program quality, strategy, and implementation across Uganda. Key Responsibilities & Duties:
- Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all IRC Uganda programs, ensuring alignment with the country strategy and humanitarian needs.
- Lead program development, design, and proposal writing for major donors including USAID, ECHO, UN agencies, and other institutional funders.
- Ensure the highest standards of program quality, monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) across all sectors.
- Manage and mentor a team of senior program staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work culture.
- Represent IRC with key stakeholders, including government partners, donors, UN agencies, and NGO consortiums in Uganda.
- Ensure programs are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with IRC and donor regulations.
- Champion gender equality, diversity, and inclusion principles across all program activities.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Master's degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in senior program management within the humanitarian or development sector, preferably in Uganda or the East Africa region.
- Proven experience managing large, complex grants from donors such as USAID, FCDO, EU, and UN agencies.
- Strong leadership, team management, and capacity-building skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Deep understanding of the Ugandan context and the operational environment for NGOs.
