Community Engagement Specialist Job at CRS Uganda - Technical Advisor I

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Uganda is seeking a dedicated Technical Advisor I – Community Engagement Specialist to join our team in Uganda. About the Role:
As a Community Engagement Specialist, you will provide strategic technical advice and leadership to ensure community participation is at the heart of CRS Uganda's programming. You will work across various projects to strengthen relationships with local communities, faith-based organisations, and local government structures.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide technical leadership in the design, implementation, and monitoring of community engagement strategies.
• Build the capacity of CRS staff and local partners in participatory methodologies and social accountability.
• Facilitate strong linkages between communities, local leaders, and project teams to ensure sustainable development outcomes.
• Lead community mobilisation, stakeholder mapping, and participatory planning processes.
• Document best practices, lessons learned, and contribute to high-quality reporting.
• Ensure all community engagement activities are conflict-sensitive and promote social cohesion.

Requirements & Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Community Development, or a related field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in community engagement, social mobilisation, or participatory development, preferably within the Ugandan context.
• Demonstrated experience working with local communities, faith-based organisations, and local government (e.g., LC systems).
• Strong understanding of Uganda’s development landscape and community dynamics.
• Excellent facilitation, training, and communication skills in English. Knowledge of local languages is a strong asset.
