Child Protection Coordinator Job at World Vision International in Kampala, Uganda
Job Description
World Vision International Uganda is seeking a dedicated and experienced Child Protection Coordinator to join our team in Kampala. This is a senior-level role where you will lead and coordinate critical child protection programmes, build the capacity of staff and partners, and advocate for the rights of vulnerable children across Uganda.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the planning, implementation, and monitoring of child protection programmes in line with national and international standards.
- Build the technical capacity of World Vision staff and local partner organisations through training, mentorship, and coaching.
- Lead advocacy initiatives to promote child rights and influence policy at district and national levels.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government ministries, NGOs, and community leaders.
- Ensure programme quality by developing tools, conducting assessments, and preparing detailed reports for donors and management.
- Manage programme budgets and resources effectively to achieve child protection outcomes.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Law, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive professional experience in child protection, preferably within the Ugandan or East African context.
- Proven experience working in humanitarian or development settings, with a strong understanding of child safeguarding principles.
- Excellent communication, networking, and advocacy skills.
- Strong report-writing and programme management abilities.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of local languages is a strong advantage.
