FHI 360, a leading global non-profit human development organisation, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Community Health Specialist to join our team in Gulu, Uganda. This is a rewarding career opportunity for a public health professional passionate about community engagement and capacity building in Northern Uganda. You will play a pivotal role in implementing community-based health interventions and strengthening local health systems.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement and manage comprehensive community health activities and programmes in the Gulu region.
- Build the capacity of Community Health Workers (CHWs) through training, mentorship, and supportive supervision.
- Lead community mobilisation, sensitisation, and health education campaigns to improve health outcomes.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community health interventions, ensuring they meet project goals.
- Collect, analyse, and report accurate community health data for informed decision-making.
- Foster strong collaboration with local government health teams, partners, and community leaders.
Qualifications and Experience Required
- A Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Social Sciences, Nursing, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in community health programming, preferably within the Ugandan context.
- Substantial experience working directly with rural and hard-to-reach communities.
- Excellent knowledge of local languages; proficiency in Acholi (Luo) is a strong preference.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid riding permit is essential for field mobility.
